Fitting Your Suan Earplugs

A good fit makes all the difference.
Take a minute to find the right tip size and create a comfortable seal. Once fitted correctly, your Suan Earplugs should feel secure, comfortable and noticeably reduce the noise around you.

How to fit your Suan Earplugs

1

Choose your tip size

Your Suan Earplugs include Small, Medium and Large silicone tips, with Medium fitted as standard. Start with Medium, then size up or down if needed.

2

Gently open the ear canal

Reach over your head with your opposite hand and gently pull the top of your ear upwards and backwards. This helps straighten the ear canal and makes insertion easier.

3

Insert and gently twist

Place the earplug into your ear and gently press and twist it into position. It should sit securely without needing to be forced deeply into the ear canal.

4

Check the seal

Let go of your ear and check the fit. Background noise should become noticeably quieter and the earplug should remain comfortably in place when you move your head.

Don't assume both ears need the same size.

It's completely normal for one ear canal to be slightly different from the other. You may find, for example, that a Medium tip works best in one ear and a Small or Large in the other.

How do I know I've got the right fit?

A properly fitted pair should tick all four boxes:

  • Background noise is noticeably reduced.
  • The earplugs feel snug but not painful.
  • They stay securely in place when you move your head.
  • You don't feel that you need to keep pushing them back in.

Tip may be too small if…

The earplug feels loose, gradually works its way out or you don't notice much reduction in noise.

Tip may be too large if…

The earplug feels uncomfortable, creates too much pressure or is difficult to position securely.

How to remove your earplugs

Remove them slowly and gently. A good seal can create slight pressure, so avoid pulling them out suddenly. Gently twist the earplug while easing it away from the ear to release the seal.

Cleaning & caring for your Suan Earplugs

  • Remove the silicone tips from the earplugs before cleaning when required.
  • Wash the silicone tips gently using lukewarm water and mild soap.
  • Allow them to dry completely before reattaching or using them.
  • Wipe the main earplug body with a clean, slightly damp cloth.
  • Store your earplugs in their case when you're not using them.

Frequently asked questions

Why aren't my earplugs reducing much noise?

The most common reason is the fit. Try another tip size and repeat the fitting process above. Even a small gap between the silicone tip and your ear canal can significantly reduce the effectiveness of the seal.

Which size should I use?

Start with the Medium tips fitted to your Suan Earplugs. If they feel loose or don't create a good seal, try Large. If they feel uncomfortable or too tight, try Small. The best size is the one that creates a secure, comfortable seal.

Will Suan Earplugs block out all sound?

No. Earplugs reduce sound rather than creating complete silence. How much sound you hear will vary depending on the fit, the type of noise and your surroundings.

Can I sleep in them?

Yes. Suan Earplugs are designed to provide a soft, comfortable fit and can be used while sleeping. Finding the correct tip size is especially important for long periods of wear.

Can I use a different size in each ear?

Absolutely. Ear canals aren't always identical, so using different tip sizes in each ear can give you a better and more comfortable seal.

A quick safety note

Earplugs reduce your awareness of surrounding sounds. Use extra care in situations where hearing alarms, traffic, warnings or other people is important. Stop using them if they cause pain or persistent discomfort.
