Our Story
Suan started with a simple idea: sometimes you just need the world to be a little quieter.
We're two friends from Ireland, both balancing work, family and the general noise of everyday life. We knew the feeling of trying to sleep beside noise, needing to concentrate when everything around you is distracting, or simply wanting ten minutes where the volume of the world isn't quite so high.
We'd both used earplugs before. Most did the job in one way or another, but we kept running into the same problems: uncomfortable foam, poor fit, earplugs that fell out, or products that felt more industrial than something you'd actually want to use every day.
We thought there should be a better option.
So we created Suan
We wanted to make a reusable earplug that was comfortable enough to sleep in, practical enough to carry everywhere and effective enough to make a noticeable difference when life gets loud.
That meant keeping things simple: soft medical-grade silicone, three ear-tip sizes so you can find the right fit, a compact reusable design and noise reduction of up to 35dB when correctly fitted.
No complicated technology. No subscription. No disposable foam plugs filling a drawer.
Just something small that you can keep beside the bed, throw into a work bag or take with you when you travel.
We're not trying to block out the world. Suan is about having a little more control over how much of it you let in.
Made for real life
Sleep was one of the first reasons we wanted better earplugs, but it quickly became obvious that noise follows us everywhere.
It's the person snoring beside you. The conversation across the office. The engine noise on a flight. A busy café when you're trying to work. A loud concert. A noisy house when you need a few minutes to focus.
That's why we designed Suan as an everyday pair of reusable earplugs rather than a product for one particular moment.

Why the name Suan?
Suan is an Irish word for sleep or slumber.
We liked it because it captured what we were trying to create without overcomplicating it: a little more quiet, rest and calm in a world that rarely switches off.
It also felt right for an Irish brand built here at home.
Where we're going
Suan is still a young Irish business, and that's something we're proud of.
We're building it carefully: listening to customers, improving the product and focusing on making something people genuinely find useful rather than trying to become everything at once.
